What did CK Academy need?
CK Academy teaches young families how money works: courses for newlyweds, for getting out of debt, with more on the way. They knew the look they wanted, and they wanted to be able to change the site themselves.
Most nonprofits know the usual arrangement. You pay someone to build a site, then you pay again every time a price changes or a course launches, or you wait a week for someone to fix a typo. The website ends up belonging to whoever holds the code.
What did Airu Labs build?
CK Academy chose the design direction: the look, the motion and the feel. We built it as a site of their own, including the parts most builds skip: the 3D motion on the homepage, the layered shadows and the custom navigation. Then we handed over every file.
How do they edit the site without a developer?
They open Claude Code and ask for what they want in plain English, the same way they would ask a developer. A request can be as plain as “put the new course on the courses page” or “change this course’s price.” Claude Code edits the files, and they check the result.
| The usual nonprofit website | The CK Academy website |
|---|---|
| A monthly platform subscription | $0 a month in platform or retainer fees |
| Changes go through a developer or an agency | The team asks Claude Code in plain English |
| An admin login and a page builder to learn | No login and nothing to learn |
| The site lives on someone else’s account | CK Academy holds every file |
What changed for CK Academy?
They own their website outright. A new course goes up the afternoon it is ready, and it costs them only the time to write it. We are not in the loop for changes, which was the point of the project.
Is a site like this right for every organization?
It suits a team that is comfortable describing a change in writing and checking the result before it goes live. A site that needs member logins, donations taken on the page or a large team of editors needs more than a set of files, and the first call is where we say which kind you have.
